CA Blogging Assignment 7

"Technological progress is like an axe in the hands of a pathological criminal." - Albert Einstein, 1917

In this quote, the "axe" signifies technology. If we use an axe properly, for instance to chop firewood, it would help human life. However, if a men tried to kill people by using an axe, it would also be very useful for him. Thus, an axe can either help or harm people, and same as technology. It depends on who uses it. In this quote, human being is explained as a "pathological criminal", which means we are born evil. So, as long as human uses technology and progresses it, they will kill themselves.

"The Law of Unintended Consequences" means things or actions bring unexpected consequences wich seems to be good or bad or both. We can not prevent this because it is usually unpredictable. For example, I wanted to study abroad when I was in high school, but I failed in the interview and couldn't go. I was so depressed at that time, but if I didn't fail that interview, I was not here in ICU. So, the world is complex and everything we do always leads us to unintended consequences.

CA Blogging Assignment 5

Sorry I'm changing my topic.
My new topic is about science and ethics. Although we say having curiosity is a good thing, this is not always true. There are some scientific discoveries that should not be used in our lives. For example, Einstein's curiosity created the atomic bomb which shouldn't have been existed. Scientists must think and imagine about the ethical problems of their discoveries, and the one's that might have bad effects to humanity should be banned like human cloning. So my thesis statement is "The use of some scientific discoveries that might have bad effects to humanity should be banned"

CA Blogging Assignment 4

If there were enhanced students around me, I would feel that it's unfair. Only rich parents can "make" enhanced children. This means that ability differences such as academic ability, appearance and physical ability, will be the same as the rich-poor gap. If this happens, poor people will never be able to become rich. Thus I feel it's not fair to make enhanced students.

CA Blogging Assignment 3

The modifications to the human genome currently being studied and experimented with will eventually change human nature. Humans have tried to modify the environment outside themselves by separating nature from human being. In other words, we are able to modify things only when we look at it objectively. If we modify ourselves, we will have to separate our body from our minds, and that will cause a moral question. Our mind and body should be harmonized.

CA Blogging Assignment 2

I have restated my thesis.

The number of women workers and the birth rate of Japan is inversely related. In fact, the number of women workers are increasing and the birth rate is decreasing. However, this is in a proportional relation in Sweden. How could Japanese society shift to a proportional relation, by not dropping the number of women workers? → "Japanese society should emulate Sweden’s social system to promote women’s social advancement and increase the birth rate."[thesis statement]

Firstly, there should be more Japanese companies permitting return to work after childcare leave as Sweden companies. By this, It will be much easier for parents to have a baby because women who have jobs won't have to choose either quitting her job and having a baby, or continue working without having a baby.

Next,  the Japanese government should promote the childcare support. The country's childcare support is rich in Sweden, but not in Japan. It is difficult for Japanese women to have both a family and a career. Many Japanese women once quits their job after having a baby, but most Swedish women don't. This is because

Finally, male's participation in child-rearing is higher in Sweden. There are two reasons to support this. First, Japanese men's labor hour is too long, which means there's no time for them to participate in child-rearing.. Second, the number of paternity leave is very low in Japan.(higher in Sweden )

CA blogging assignment 1

In my first essay, I will write about gender.
I am interested in the connection  between the idea of gender-free and the declining birth rate of Japan. Declining birth rate is one of the most serious problems in Japan. Nowadays, many women are working in society, which is a good thing. However, less women are housewives. If there is no one to take care of a child, couples won't have babies. I thought that this might be one reason for the declining birth rate of Japan. Also, it is interesting that there are some men called "Ikumen" who takes care of their child instead of their wife. Ikumen, which is also a product of gender-free, might increase the birth rate of Japan.

Thesis statement; The declining birth rate of Japan is related to women's social advancement.
